Intuitive

This is based on a study of one, so it is of course open to criticism and counter-example, but I still wanted to mention it.

Have you ever seen a young child with an iPhone? I am amazed at how easily they can manipulate images and navigate the touch screen. I don't know if it is their desire to touch everything (including the computer monitor) or that they are more open to exploring how to use new things.

I have no doubt that the touch interface is counter intuitive for some, but I think the beauty of the interface comes out when you watch a young child pick up a device and immediately use the interface. If you want to see for yourself take a toddler to your local Apple store and let them try out an iPhone.
